Some recipes don’t need to be complicated.

In fact, the best burgers usually aren’t.

If you’re planning a weekend cookout this fall, here’s one of our favorite combinations that always disappears fast.

The Backyard Burger

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of 80/20 ground beef
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • Brioche buns
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Thick-cut bacon
  • Grilled onions
  • Fresh tomato
  • Crisp lettuce
  • Dill pickles

For the sauce, simply mix:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • A splash of pickle juice

Grill the burgers over medium-high heat, adding the cheese during the final minute. Toast the buns, build your burger, and enjoy it outside while it’s still hot.

Good food somehow tastes even better outdoors.

Maybe it’s the fresh air.

Maybe it’s the company.

Or maybe it’s simply because some meals are meant to be enjoyed under the Texas sky.
